Vinted Users Express Anger Regarding Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments failing to inform all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Updates
Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Stories
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she said.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
