The Renowned Musician Urges Backing to Propel Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.

A charity drive is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The effort seeks to provide aid to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

A Chance for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely disheartened if it fails to, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”

Defiant Message of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.

“It occupies a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”

Track's Background and Featured Artists

The track was produced after a large-scale benefit event held in September. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.

The impressive roster of artists featured on Lullaby encompasses a range of acclaimed names from the scene. All were part of the September show, which successfully generated a significant sum for charitable causes.

Production and Release

Lullaby was brought to life by a group of music creators. The song features a combination of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.

The group managing the campaign have clarified that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These resources will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“There is no a fixed goal,” a spokesperson said. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Of course, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The context in the territory was described as its profound destruction, with a vast majority of buildings reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.

“Given that reality, a handful of millions doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”

The song is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
