Kai Trump will have plenty of well-known backers as she makes her professional golf debut later this week.

The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be related to a former US president, received a special exemption to play at the Annika tournament in Florida.

Her grandfather, a passionate golfer, owns numerous international courses and often competes against Kai.

"He's fairly competent. I can't reveal details but we have some close matches," she stated.

The golfer shared that Trump, unable to come, told her: "Just stay calm."

"He practically told me to go out there and enjoy myself," she added.

"To me, he's simply a regular grandfather. He can't make it this weekend. He's busy with presidential duties, so he's somewhat preoccupied."

Being non-professional, the golfer has competed in a mere three competitions this year and holds position 461 in the American Junior Golf Association standings.

But she can get advice from golf legend, who is dating Vanessa.

"He stands as the greatest golfer in the world," Kai expressed.

"And he's an even better human being. He advised me to compete, relax, adapting to the flow."

Kai will face several most prominent players in the sport at the Annika, such as world number two Nelly Korda, British golfer Hull, professional Thompson and last year's winner Lilia Vu.

Tournament organizers mentioned that involving Kai brings golf to new audiences, specifically among youth audiences.

The social media influencer maintains substantial online presence and has started an exclusive apparel and wellness company.

Her first tee time at 17:30 GMT.
