A Pig's Tale: Pig Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Leader.

It might not have been at the equivalent scale as pardoning festive fowl, but the county's top official had her own Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She is worthy of this pardon. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the sheer volume of pardons issued since the commencement of a new presidential term.

“Except perhaps for eating half a dozen apples per day,” she went on. “May this pig enjoy a long and happy life free from concern.”

The event, simultaneously observing and challenging the region’s Hispanic tradition of eating roast pork during the holidays, was founded to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The pig, provided by a first responder, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people yelling “six seven” – originating from a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so ubiquitous that a major dictionary recently made “6-7” its top term for the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

Six Seven the pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to begin the festive period,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the character of Miami: happy, varied, and based in heritage that foster togetherness. Each year, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way unique to Miami.”

Attendees enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach fritters and cafecito as they toasted Six Seven’s big moment.
