This historic hillside village, a ancient hillside village in southern Spain, approximately a short drive from Granada, is the breathtaking backdrop for this painting holiday. Artists of every skill level – including novices – will discover how to plan and create non-representational pieces. Part of the schedule will be spent in the open air, working on guided exercises en plein air. These sketches and paintings will then be expanded upon in the studio, with guests completing multiple interpretive scenes in acrylics to be displayed in the village. Participants has sole use of the venue, which is built around an central patio and has a rooftop with views over the hills. The price encompasses five days’ art instruction; all meals; and an outing to the nearby fortress and other points of interest.

Ottolenghi-Inspired Culinary in the Algarve

This sun-drenched foodie getaway, based at a riverside villa in the central Algarve, is draws inspiration from the plant-based cuisine of renowned chefs. Guests will master the art of selection of small dishes, take part in a falafel-making workshop, refine mid-morning meals such as shakshuka, and make hearty mains such as a rich mushroom stew and moussaka. There are visits to the village market and a nearby winery to sample local vintages, along with leisure time for strolls by the Funcho River, to relax on the deck or swim in the pool. The farmhouse, a former farmhouse, has five bedrooms, plus glamping tents in the gardens.

Hip Hop in Buckinghamshire

Hip Hop Don’t Stop is an energizing, inclusive three-day dance intensive for adults in High Wycombe. The daily schedule throughout the camp is a high-energy warm-up session, followed by three 90-minute classes covering different street dance styles, then an 60-minute jam to show off new moves. Participants are split into groups according to skill level, so it is suitable for those who are brand new to street dance, right up to advanced dancers or instructors. The camp does not provide accommodation but there are a number of places to stay within walking distance, and it is under an hour by train into central London.

Maritime Singing Break in Cornwall

St Ives is the perfect location for a maritime music retreat. Participants will be taught traditional shanties from a folk singer and vocal coach, and have a go at composing original ones. The schedule includes voice exercises, breath control techniques, stagecraft advice and a final evening concert. The holiday is based at a country house with views of the bay. All meals are included, such as a traditional tea on arrival, cooked or continental breakfasts, packed lunches and three-course dinners. Traditional rum, unfortunately, is not provided. Writer and lecturer an experienced instructor conducts the daily workshops on this writing retreat. He explores topics including story structure, character development, setting and tension, to submitting work to publishers. The holiday is based at a traditional complex in Vamos at the base of the White mountains – 10 private accommodations surround a garden and pool (companions are encouraged to come along). It is designed to produce “bee-friendly beekeepers”.
